Let’s hear

Our story

The Mind Inclusion community originated from the European project “Mind Inclusion 2.0” started in 2018
and funded by the European Union programme’s Erasmus+.
The project focuses on the needs of intellectually disabled people that often experience difficulties and psychological barriers in accessing public places and at the same time on the opportunity to include ICT-based supports in the daily work of social workers and educators. It allowes to foster the competencies of educators of people with intellectual disabilities across Europe and promote the participative co-creation, and use, of an Android APP, contributing to the sustainable and inclusive involvement of people with disability in the society.

The project specifically aims at:

  •  The co-design and development of an European Android APP to gather information about public places that are keen and sensible to people with disability and their caregivers.
  • The development and sharing of successful methodologies and practices connected with the use of the APP to build inclusive communities.
  • Fostering the use of the APP and an independent and inclusive life style for people with disability.
  • Improving digital competences of people with intellectual disabilities and educators/social workers.
  • Enhancing cooperation and sharing experiences among organizations working with people with disabilities across Europe.
The project involved and trained around 20 educators and about 50 people with disabilities across 4 countries (Italy, Spain, Lithuania and France), touching approximately 300 stakeholders in Europe.

Before the end of the project, we decided to promote the creation of a community to disseminate and promote the Mind Inclusion APP and the related methodology, believing that anybody can act to favour social inclusion. What are you waiting for? Join our community.

Let’s discover

The MindInclusion App

The MindInclusion APP is an Android application co-designed together with people with intellectual and physical disabilities. Its main aim is to support people with disabilities in accessing and evaluating public places according to how much these are inclusive. It also allows promoting social inclusion, equity and accessibility at community level.
The APP helps people with disabilities, both cognitive and physical, to find and reach new different spots/places in a city. It also allows understanding what services a place offers as well as other useful details such as opening hours, location, how to reach it and what it’s available around it. Finally, thanks to user-generated reviews, it allows to understand if a place is accessible and inclusive, and if it responds to the needs of the user with just a few taps.

From the other side, the APP is useful for educators, caregivers and managers of public places too. It helps them to connect together and to make communities more aware of social inclusion, building social networks.

The design of the APP has been developed specifically to be as possible the most accessible for people with disabilities, and then for everybody who is interested in contributing to promote social inclusion and accessibility.

Both if you are a person with disability, a manager of a restaurant or another
public place, or a caregiver
you can contribute to create a more inclusive community.

Help us by joining the MindInclusion community! Sometimes inclusion it’s only having the right gaze!
